About Turning Point Foundation
Our new address: 82/A Monipuripara (first floor), Tejgaon, Dhaka-1215, Bangladesh
Turning Point Foundation is a distinguished Non-Government Organization (NGO) based in Bangladesh, dedicated to empowering marginalized communities—including persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and other disadvantaged groups—through Capacity Building and Advocacy. Our mission is to champion the human rights of these communities and integrate 'Inclusion' as a core component of all our programs and initiatives. As an independent, non-profit entity, TurningPoint operates without any religious or political affiliations, ensuring our efforts remain focused on creating inclusive opportunities for all.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, TurningPoint has been at the forefront of supporting government, non-government, and international agencies' efforts to assist the most marginalized communities. Our role includes facilitating the exchange of knowledge and information, and establishing nationwide networks and collaborative relationships with grassroots organizations, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) across Bangladesh. This initiative aims to ensure that even the most hard-to-reach and underserved groups have access to essential services and support during these challenging times.
TurningPoint is also a renowned Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) for its commitment to inclusivity, with persons with disabilities taking on roles of active participation, leadership, and professional engagement at every level of the organization. This commitment is further demonstrated by its significant contributions to the disability rights movement and the advancement of organizations dedicated to persons with disabilities. Drawing on its achievements and insights, TurningPoint has broadened its focus to encompass a wider range of developmental issues, all underpinned by the guiding principle of ‘Leaving no one behind’.
The name 'TurningPoint' embodies our foundational belief that even in the midst of life's challenges and disappointments, there remains a pivotal opportunity to pivot towards hope's illuminating light. We stand firm in the conviction that disabilities and difficulties should not extinguish hope but be embraced as challenges, callings, and commitments to surpass all obstacles. Our guiding mantra, 'Let’s enlighten ourselves with the light of hope, overcoming all life's obstructions' encapsulates our dedication to fostering resilience and optimism.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), TurningPoint prioritizes six key areas of focus: 1) Disability Incluson and Advocacy; 2) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Accessibility; 3) Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR); 4) Promoting Inclusive Education; 5) Poverty Alleviation Strategies; and 6) Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.
