Workshop on Gender and Disability Inclusive Organizational Policy Development

Turning Point Foundation organized a workshop on Gender and Disability Inclusive Organizational Policy Development on 26-28 September 2017 supported by Commonwealth Foundation. The participants were total 22 from 18 grassroots DPOs from across the country participated in the workshop. Participation was diversified in terms of disability and gender. Among these participants, 8 were women and the rest 14 were male including 3 Deaf. The total 22 participants with disabilities included physical disabilities, visual disabilities, hearing disabilities and Deaf among total participants. The objectives of the workshop was to enable the participants – i) To learn about organization and polices; ii) To learn about Gender and Disability Inclusive organizational policy iii) Drafting different types of organizational Policies.

Training on Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Turning Point Foundation organized a training on Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities during 08-10 August 2017. A total of 22 participants from 21 grassroots DPOs participated. Most of them were women and with disabilities and men with disabilities. The major contents included Important concepts and definitions: disability, models, equal opportunity, accessibility, participation, non-discrimination and gender; History of disability movement: Role of DPOs; Introduction to Rights, basic needs, basic rights and background of Human Rights; Universal declaration of Human Rights; Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD); Disabled People's Rights and Protection Act, 2013 and its Rules, 2015; Neuro-development Trust Protection Act, 2013 and its Rules, 2015 .

Training on Government Rules and Regulations for NGOs

Turning Point Foundation Turning Point Foundation organized a training on Government Rules and Regulations for NGOs on 27-29 July 2017 with support from the Commonwealth Foundation. The participants were 20 from 16 grassroots DPOs. Participation was diversified in terms of disability, gender, ethnicity and age. Among these participants, 10 were female and the rest 9 were male. The total 17 participants with disabilities included physical disabilities, visual impairment and deaf. Mr. Gokul Krishna Ghosh, Director (Project-2) of NGO Affairs Bureau (Joint Secretary) facilitated a session on rules and regulations for NGOs related to the NGO Affairs Bureau of the government of Bangladesh. The season focused on “Government’s Rules & Regulations for NGOs” and “Essential documents for NGOAB registration”.
